V-Ray visopt settings

Hey V-ray users! In this section you can find some very very basic and quick  interior settings for V-ray (for Rhino).

You can download zipped *.visopt settings by clicking on the image.

Scenes generally contain a Sun with multiplier set to 0.1.

Scene in 3dm is not included! Downloadable are only settings in .visopt format. Thanks for understanding.

How to import them into your V-ray? Check this out:

settings

Please keep in mind that reaching good render needs also good materials, composition and 3D models, not only good settings!

there is no sun used in the last scene above.

  4. Sorry, i didn’t eplain what I shared.
Basic lightnign configuration (it’s like some fast) but low quality, and a scene with direct light. You can change the color of the light and its direction.

  5. ooou great.thanks for sharing.but I have one problem.but how can I open visopt file in Vray in 3ds max? thx

    • Unfortunately, this is not possible. 3DS MAX’s Vray doesn’t work as other’s Vray. Vray for Sketchup and for Rhinoceros – They work with each other. But 3DS MAX’s Vray ignores settings and materials from other programs.

  6. failed to load options from file…
    …any sugestion..??

    • Well, first of all You need to have Vray for Rhinoceros [not 3dsmax]
      :)
And next needed thing is to have installed last version for Vray…

Do You still have the problem after installing last Vray build?

    what is visopt

    • Visopt is a special file which contains settings for Rhino/Vray scene. If you download these visopts and Load them into your Rhino Vray, You will have pre-setted setttings from scenes you can see above. :)
      Good luck

  19. Hey. First congrats on this whole site. It’s the only one dedicated to Rhino and Vray really worth mentioning.
Second, I have a question. I tried the visopts and they look great. Very balanced, overall. The only thing that’s bothering are the sun patches. Wherever there’s a sun patch it’s always burned. Tried tweeking the visopts in order to correct this but to no avail. Can it be a problem with the sun? Which options should I mess with to correct this?

    Thanks in advance!

  20. How do I actually get a specific visopt setting to work in V-Ray? I can’t even figure out how to select one.

  21. Thanks for the explanation, I got it working now.:)

  26. To a few of you that are having the issue of importing these wonderful materials and settings. I had the same problem, once I updated my rhino with the latest update SR8 then the materials and setting worked like a charm. Also make sure you have the latest V-ray compatible with the updates (sr8) with rhino 4.0. Hope that helps…

  34. Hi admin;

I just downloaded a setting but when i rendering it: first it takes so long and second it looks so white. I got the latest version of Rhino and Vray. I’m new with this program but what can i do? i got all the scene done, im trying to render a room but its seen so difficult to make it photo realistic.

Thank for your time or for any one who can give me some answers and help

    Kind Regard,
    David Racca

  35. Please can anyone answer my question above?
    Kind Regard,
    David Racca

    • Sorry, I was very busy these days.
Well, there there are several factors influencing this. I suppose You use too strong lights for the scene, so it look burned and white. If the scene is under 25 MB, You can send it to me so I can have a look. Write me to studio@flyingarchitecture.com

  36. Thanks .

Hi…I’ve just come across your website, must compliment you! All the designs are ‘WOW’. Neat and clean rendering makes it more appealing. However, I can’t use .vispot files since I use 3ds Max. Please could you also provide vray settings for 3ds Max. Thanks in advance! :)

    • Hi! Thanks for nice words. However, I do not work with 3DS Max, so I not able to create these visopts for 3DS Max.

      Best Regards

      • Maulik Trivedi says:

Thanks Admin, for the prompt reply. If ever you plan to use 3DS Max, do give your insight on vray settings. I’m sure many designers like me, might be in need for your valuable and useful tips! All The Best & Keep up the Good work! :)

  39. Hi Matus!

Just a querie about Global illumination ~ When I render with an exterior scene that I have adapted to my coursework for school from you excellent Visopt downloads,I find that the Illumination is a touch too vivid or the contrast and saturation is slightly too high ~ which settings should I play with to decrease them?

    All the best, F!

  40. These are really good! Do you have one for night scenes though?

  41. Hi, I can’t find the hdr files inside the iphone charger zip file. Is that correct?
    Thankss!!!

  42. thanks much..

  43. Thanks….it’s very usefull. if there is somethin else likes exterior preset, it would be very nice.

  44. First of all congratulations!!! Amazing site!
Could you post the vistops for using in Rhinoceros 4 SR6 + VRAY For Rhino SR 1.5? This version doesn´t work with that one. I would REALLY apreciate it.
    Thank you!

    • I am sorry, but I don’t use these older versions anymore. Please upgrade to the latest versions of both Rhino and V-Ray to be able to use these settings.

  45. I´ve downloaded Rhinoceros sr8 and vray and still doesn´t work any sugestions?

  46. Thanks for these cool interior settings…
Hope you don’t mind if you can post a different exterior settings?? Those with dramatic effects like sunsets setting?

    thanks again.

  47. hey there..!

first off..! I’m really happy to have found this page, I’m a beginner in vray and this has been very helpful so far..

a question regarding your visopt settings with sun though… : how do I determine the direction/azimuth and altitude of the sun.. I’ve seen this option when I create a new sun system, but how I can I access an existing one?

    thanks a lot!

    • Hello :) Good to know You like FlyingArchitecture. Share it with your friends, please ;)

Regarding Your question – I really have no idea how to access these settings, but the sun direction and position is easily editable using classic rotate and move tool, so by hand you can set ANY angle You need :)

      • thanks for your quick response..
well, this site is the first thing I point to whenever somebody asks my about my renders…

and, yea, that’s what I figured, too .. I actually built a little sundial but realized that the sun is burning down more or less vertically.

a way to do it though, if you assign sky to both GI (skylight) and background under the environment tab. you have to also overwrite the settings and assign a sun previously created.
you then have a sun object in your scene which you can select and under properties – light – modify change the sun angle etc.

please correct me if I’m wrong.. it seemed to work so far

        • Sounds good, :) I just tried it and it really works. Anyway, I’ll stay using the manual way of positioning the Sun :)

          Thanks for Your tip!

  48. Hi,
I downloaded the file “iphone charger” but it is not working properly because it does contain .hdr file. can you please upload that .hdr file also.
    Thanx

  49. Fantastic website!
its normal that the renders take a lot of time?
with an output of 640×426 it takes about 20 min,(4 GB ram)
    what im i doing wrong?

    thanx
